Life Skills for Entering the “Real World”

Many BCTAC students have expressed interest in learning more practical life skills. The goal is to have local professionals such as financial planners, real estate agents, nutrition specialists, and car dealers provide an interactive easy-to-follow approach to learning the “ins and outs” of making it after graduation.

The Congressional Award

St. Luke’s YAK! is excited to announce that it will be working with the Wood River YMCA in creating a curriculum that will provide high school students within the Wood River Valley a means to achieve the prestigious national Congressional Award Certificates and Medals. This is a great way in which students can have a personal experience allowing them to explore their capabilities in the areas of volunteerism, physical fitness, personal development, and exploration.

Nutritional Education

BCTAC II is excited to have St. Luke's very own Clinical Dietitian, Becky Carver presenting Monday, December 14th at 3:30pm in the Middle School Library. She'll be speaking on the topic of nutritional education and how to make healthy choices this holiday season.

Festival of Trees Decorating

This Tuesday the 24th of Nov. at 6pm in the HUB we'll be decorating a Christmas tree for the 2009 Festival of Trees. The theme this year for our tree will be a Christmas Card Tree. For those of you who don't know, The Festival of Trees is the major fundraising event for the Senior Connection.

The Turkey Trot

Looking for volunteers in BCTAC to help with the Turkey Trot Thanksgiving morning. Be there at 9:15am in the Community Campus parking lot to lend a helping hand. Race starts at 10am. This is truly a great event for a great cause. For more info call 727-8736.

Bellevue Haunted Forest

GET READY FOR FUN!!! For the second year, BCTAC students will help organize and participate in the Bellevue Haunted Forest! BCTAC will be planning and acting in the zombie section of the forest! You can get dressed up like a zombie and scare your fellow community members!!! Come to the BCTAC meetings on Tuedsays in the HUB at the Community Campus from 7-8 pm to learn more and get assigned a role!!!! Or call Kelly Nicholson at 727-8735 to get more involved!!

Being a part of the event helps fun the long-term maintenance of the Howard Preserve, as well as local youth groups like BCTAC!! This is FUN and for a good cause!!!
